September 2-4, Sierra Pines Camp had the honor of celebrating its 70th year operating as a Christian retreat center. We celebrated by inviting current and past participants in Sierra Pines Camp’s history to take part in a day full of activities and weekend retreat.

The main event was a pleasant luncheon catered by Elena Petrenko. We worshipped together and our guests heard from several speakers spanning the recent history of Sierra Pines. Many were moved to tears hearing from one of our guest speakers, Cindy de Beer. She shared how she came to Christ at Sierra Pines Camp as a teenager and her life was forever changed. She went on to become a long term missionary in Africa, spreading the love of Jesus across the globe. There are so many touching stories about how God has worked through camp, and we were so privileged to hear a few of them for this event.

Several businesses donated goods to our silent auction. We would like to thank Costco, Kirkwood ski resort, Lira’s Supermarket, AVV Creationgs, PAA Photos, The Good Life Radio Show FM 101.5, and Inna and Sergey Eyrih. We would like to thank everyone who purchased tickets to our charity banquet, participated in the silent auction, and made cash donations. A huge thank you also goes out to everyone who volunteered their time preparing for the event, running it, and doing clean up, especially Olga Tsaplin and her family.

A special commemorative website was put together by Olga Avetisova showcasing the highlights of Sierra Pines Camp history. The website, http://70anniversary.sierrapinescamp.org, includes written history and a rich photographical archive. We are still accepting photos and written histories and testimonials for the archive. The photographs from the camp’s 70 year history have been collected and printed as a photobook, also available for purchase.

Sierra Pines Camp is an ongoing ministry. We rely on your support to continue serving the next generation. We are so thankful to God for his provision over the last 70 years. We are especially thankful that God has entrusted this unique and wonderful treasure to the PCSBA. We call on each member of the PCSBA churches to take this stewardship seriously and continue building the kingdom through camp ministry!
